Blessing Bags
While on my early morning photography walks, I often meet homeless persons who sometimes request money. I never give cash for fear that it might be used to purchase drugs or alcohol. Instead, I have begun carrying one or two Blessing Bags in my camera bag and giving one to them. Blessing Bags allow me to share my blessings with others in need.
Blessing Bags can make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness and can include self-care products and essentials like socks.
Some additional items can include:
1. Non-perishable food items (granola bars, fruit cups, nuts, etc.)
2. Travel-size toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant)
3. Tissues or wet wipes
4. Lip balm
5. Comb or small brush
6. Hand sanitizer
7. Sunscreen
8. Feminine hygiene products (if applicable)
9. Notepad and pen
10. Warm gloves or hats in cold weather
By avoiding items that can be easily exchanged for alcohol or drugs, you ensure that your efforts are focused on providing genuine assistance. The Dollar Store and Amazon are a great source of supplies.
